Tooling Engineer (Aerospace)

TL;DR

Tooling Engineer (Aerospace): Designing and fabricating tooling and material handling systems for satellite buses and subsystems with an accent on ground support equipment and structural analysis. Focus on developing production fixtures, optimizing production operations, and validating tooling through manufacture and testing.

Location: Los Angeles, CA. Must be a "U.S. Person" as defined by ITAR.

Salary: $90,000 - $140,000 + equity

What you will do

• Design and fabricate tooling and material handling systems for satellite buses and subsystems.
• Lead development of satellite subsystem production fixtures from project kickoff through production.
• Perform sizing and structural analysis of ground support equipment and drive continuous improvement of production operations.
• Support the development of ground test setups, flight hardware, and development fixtures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish product requirements and project development schedules.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, or other relevant engineering discipline.
• 1+ years of industry experience with mechanical and/or electromechanical design and analysis.
• Hands-on fabrication experience and experience building mechanical assemblies for aerospace or terrestrial applications.
• Proficiency with CAD or FEA software packages and practical application of GD&T.
• Must be a "U.S. Person" (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or certain protected individuals) due to ITAR regulations.

Nice to have

• Experience with NX (Unigraphics) and Teamcenter PLM.
• Proficiency in structural analysis using Simcenter 3D, Femap, or Hypermesh.
• Experience with actuators, controls, data acquisition, and automation equipment.
• Background in High Power Rocketry, CubeSats, Robotics, or Formula SAE.
