TL;DR

Principal Mechanical Engineer (Aerospace): Take hardware and mechanisms from conceptual design through qualification to on-orbit operations with an accent on design reviews, hardware development, testing, analysis, and trades. Focus on building and iterating moving mechanical assemblies for satellites, ensuring reliability in space environments, and collaborating on product requirements and processes.

Location: Los Angeles, CA. Must be a U.S. Person per ITAR regulations

Salary: $185,000 – $200,000 + equity

What you will do

  • Lead design reviews from kickoff through qualification and operations.
  • Drive hardware development including hands-on testing, analysis correlation, and iterations.
  • Perform hardware trades to steer sub-system and product direction.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team on requirements, processes, and best practices.
  • Own and refine system deliverables and schedules throughout development and production.
  • Define mechanical requirements, concepts, analysis, test campaigns, and produce flight hardware.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, or relevant engineering
  • 10+ years experience with mechanical/electromechanical design and analysis
  • Experience with CAD or FEA software
  • Experience with GD&T application
  • Proficiency in mechanical design principles, materials, thermodynamics, fluids
  • Ability to design, build, test hardware including troubleshooting iterations
  • Experience with moving mechanical assemblies for aerospace (satellites, payloads, launch vehicles, etc.)
  • Experience with NASA-STD-5017, SMC-S-016, GSFC-STD-7000
  • Must be a U.S. Person (citizen, permanent resident, or protected individual) per ITAR
