Telematics Software Engineer (Embedded IoT)

TL;DR

Telematics Software Engineer (C++/Linux): Develop software components for automotive telematics systems that expose the car ecosystem to the Internet of Things with an accent on safety, security, and comfort features. Focus on designing embedded applications, integrating with 5G and V2X technologies, and ensuring compliance with automotive software standards under high reliability requirements.

Location: Bucharest, Romania (onsite). Willing to travel up to 20%, international travel.

What you will do

• Study customer and internal specifications to develop component design documents based on given SW architecture.
• Develop and test software components in C++ on Embedded Linux, including unit tests and functional testing.
• Perform code reviews, root cause analysis, debugging with gdb, and verify fixes for software issues.
• Analyze and modify existing embedded software to add features, fix bugs, or port to different platforms.
• Communicate with stakeholders, peers in hirify.global group, and customers to resolve requirements and issues; occasional travel for coordination.
• Optimize solutions for KPIs and ensure highest software quality through system-level testing.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant IT specialization.
• At least 4+ years as software developer, with 3+ years in C++.
• Good knowledge of Embedded Linux, Linux expertise, and developing embedded applications.
• Knowledge of inter-process communication, threading, and socket communication.
• Good English communication skills (written and verbal).
• Working knowledge of software development processes and embedded operating systems.

Nice to have

• Experience with TCP, UDP, MQTT, CAN protocols.
• Unified Modelling Language knowledge.
• Agile methods (SCRUM, SAFe).
• Linux Kernel experience.
