What you will do

• Design and maintain shared database platform components including client libraries, migration tooling, and safety checks.
• Establish scalable connection patterns for relational databases across production, staging, and development environments.
• Partner with backend teams to optimize database usage, connection lifecycles, and query patterns in application code.
• Architect and improve AWS RDS/Aurora infrastructure, managing read replicas, failover, and capacity planning.
• Build automated guardrails for database migrations to ensure production safety, observability, and rollback capabilities.
• Investigate and resolve systemic database issues such as lock contention, connection storms, and replication lag.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional experience in software, infrastructure, or database engineering (SRE/Platform).
• Strong proficiency in Go, Python, or TypeScript.
• Deep hands-on experience with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL in high-availability production environments.
• Expertise in AWS RDS/Aurora and connection management technologies (e.g., RDS Proxy, PgBouncer).
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) and CI/CD systems (GitLab CI/CD, Kubernetes).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.

Nice to have

• Experience building platform capabilities for microservices environments using Golang.
• Background in fintech, payments, or high-volume transactional systems.
• Experience with compliance-sensitive environments (PCI DSS, SOC 2, SOX).
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch and AI developer tooling such as Cursor or Claude Code.
