Salary: $150,000 – $156,000/year

What you will do

• Lead and manage FX artists and leads on assigned shows to ensure visual requirements and client briefs are met.
• Establish and maintain technical methodologies, ensuring consistency of work across the FX department.
• Collaborate closely with VFX and CG supervisors to translate creative visions into technical execution.
• Mentor FX artists and leads, providing daily feedback, performance reviews, and time management strategies.
• Coordinate with production managers to estimate task durations and ensure delivery targets are achieved.
• Collaborate with R&D to test and integrate new toolsets and pipeline improvements.

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of feature film or TV production experience as an FX artist.
• Minimum 2 years of experience acting as an FX Lead.
• Expert knowledge of Houdini, including creating HDAs, VEX, and Hscript.
• Strong proficiency with Arnold (preferred) or other 3D renderers and common data formats like VDB and Alembic.
• Working knowledge of Nuke and compositing principles.
• Must be based in British Columbia and eligible to work in Canada.

Nice to have

• Strong Python and Linux/Unix scripting skills.
• Thorough knowledge of Maya and HDK.
• Experience with other solvers such as Naiad, RealFlow, Bullet, or Blastcode.
• Knowledge of Gaffer or other node-based rendering applications.
