What you will do
- Conduct inter- and transdisciplinary research on the Water–Health Nexus, specifically focusing on Nature-based Solutions (NBS).
- Evaluate potential health benefits and drawbacks of NBS under future climate extremes.
- Use knowledge of hydrological connectivity to predict pathogen dispersal and resulting human exposure risks.
- Apply Quantitative Microbial Risk Assessment (QMRA) to evaluate health risks under different scenarios.
- Collaborate with the Pandemic Disaster Preparedness Centre (PDPC), Erasmus University, and Erasmus Medical Centre.
- Publish research findings in scientific papers and present results at international conferences.
Requirements
- PhD degree in Hydrology, Sanitary Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Microbiology, or related subjects.
- Expertise in surface water quality related to human health, such as waterborne diseases and contaminant transport.
- Proven quantitative skills in mathematical modelling and programming.
- English: High proficiency (C1) for scientific writing and communication.
- Location: Ability to relocate to the Netherlands.
