What you will do

• Review and approve payroll journal entries across international jurisdictions, ensuring accuracy and US GAAP compliance.
• Act as the primary subject matter expert for payroll, employee benefits, payroll taxes, and PTO accounting.
• Monitor and maintain a robust controls framework to ensure Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.
• Manage external audit requests, prepare supporting documentation, and coordinate with auditors.
• Identify and implement automation opportunities in the payroll accounting cycle leveraging AI and modern tooling.
• Collaborate with Payroll Operations, FP&A, Benefits, and HR to align the general ledger with compensation and headcount changes.

Requirements

• 6+ years of progressive experience in Accounting, specifically with payroll accounting in multinational or high-growth environments.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SOX compliance requirements.
• Expertise in wage accruals, employer taxes, and PTO liability management across multiple jurisdictions.
• Proficiency with large data sets and experience using Excel and/or SQL.
• Location: Must be based in Managua, Nicaragua

Nice to have

• CPA or equivalent professional certification.
• Background in public accounting or audit.
• Experience working with NetSuite or other ERP systems.
• Previous experience in the fintech industry.
