TL;DR

Staff Software Engineer (Fullstack): Provide technical leadership on complex software architecture, systems, and platforms for a digital classroom platform with an accent on design, development, and continuous improvement. Hybrid in Auckland office: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in office; Tuesdays and Thursdays work from home.

What you will do

  • Provide technical leadership, review prioritisation processes, lead discussions on software architecture improvements, and make decisions guiding engineering progress.
  • Mentor and coach junior/intermediate engineers, act as direct reporting line, and ensure high-quality, tested, secure, maintainable code.
  • Develop and maintain functionality for the hirify.global application, build scalable, reliable systems using JavaScript, React, Rails, and more.
  • Champion cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and customers; shape strategy and prioritise work.
  • Act as technical expert to solve ambiguous problems using data, structured approaches, and multiple solution evaluations.

Requirements

  • 9+ years experience developing web-based applications for global users.
  • Deep fluency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS; strong experience with large SPAs and frontend frameworks like React, AngularJS, VueJS.
  • Experience with backend tools such as Rails, Rust, Typescript.
  • Strong product sense, customer collaboration, high-performance code development, profiling with Chrome DevTools.
  • Great communication, adaptability, positive collaborative approach; quick to adopt latest tech.
