Senior Hardware Engineer (Automotive)

TL;DR

Senior Hardware Engineer (Automotive): Realizing telematics and connectivity functions in automotive IVI systems with an accent on analog/digital functional blocks, power supplies, MCU/SoC integration, and functional safety. Focus on schematic design, signal/power integrity simulations, prototype bring-up, debugging, and verification under ISO 26262.

Location: Bucharest, Romania (flexible office and remote work). Willingness to travel up to 20% depending on project needs.

What you will do

• Develop, test, and verify analog/digital functional blocks like power supplies and MCU/SoC units in complex hardware architectures.
• Perform schematic entry, variant management, signal/power-integrity simulations, and layout reviews.
• Handle bring-up, debugging of prototypes, and creation of measurement reports/technical documentation.
• Ensure functional safety per ISO 26262, review designs, and guide team on compliance.
• Assist in requirements specification for parts, supplier evaluation, and global collaboration with mechanical, quality, manufacturing, and software teams.
• Provide technical support for industrialization and perform on-site measurements (EMC, thermal, functional).

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Telecommunications Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 3 years experience in HW development/verification of analog/digital applications.
• Experience with schematic/layout tools (CAD, SPICE) and Microsoft applications.
• Knowledge of telematics interfaces (PCIe, UART, Ethernet, I2C, I2S, SPI, USB).
• Strong verbal and written English skills.
• Creativity, analytical thinking, communication skills, structured working style, cross-functional collaboration.

Nice to have

• ISO 26262 experience in automotive products.
• Familiarity with Mentor Graphics ECAD (Schematic Entry, Layout) and HFSS simulation.
• Knowledge of automotive EMC requirements.
