What you will do

• Design and maintain high-performance Java microservices using Spring Boot to handle >250K events/sec.
• Implement stateful stream-processing pipelines using Kafka Streams and Apache Flink with exactly-once semantics.
• Optimize ClickHouse schemas and materialized views for multi-region, sub-second queries.
• Integrate OpenTelemetry instrumentation and build SLI/SLO dashboards in Datadog and Grafana.
• Apply DevSecOps practices using Terraform, Kubernetes (EKS), and AWS infrastructure.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead rigorous code and design reviews.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional Java development experience with mastery of high-performance and low-latency design patterns.
• Production experience with Kafka Streams, Flink, or similar stream-processing frameworks.
• Hands-on expertise in ClickHouse or other columnar database performance tuning and SQL optimization.
• Proven success operating AWS-hosted microservices at scale with Docker and Kubernetes knowledge.
• Must be based in Dublin, Ireland.
• Strong observability mindset including metrics, tracing, and alerting.

Nice to have

• Experience migrating services to multi-region active-active topologies.
• Familiarity with PII tokenization and field-level encryption.
• Previous work in telecom, real-time analytics, or compliance-sensitive domains.
• Contributions to open-source Java or streaming projects.
