TL;DR

Senior Designer, System UI (In-Vehicle): Designing system-level software experiences for GM vehicles across OS frameworks, digital clusters, touchscreens, HUDs, partner integrations, and cross-channel touchpoints with an accent on intuitive, accessible, and brand-aligned interactions. Focus on balancing user needs, technical constraints, and business objectives while creating production-ready prototypes, specs, and assets for engineering teams.

Location: Hybrid - report to Sunnyvale Technical Center, CA or Warren, Sloan Technical Center, MI three times per week or as dictated by business needs. No immigration sponsorship; must have work authorization without company support (H1-B, OPT, etc.). Eligible for relocation benefits.

Salary: $125,200–192,000

What you will do

• Collaborate with design, software, engineering, and product teams to craft premier user experiences across GM products and platforms.
• Balance user needs, technical constraints, and business objectives to solve complex problems effectively.
• Develop production interaction designs, sketches, mockups, animations, prototypes, and release specs/assets to engineering.
• Present work to peers and leadership, participate in design critiques, and advocate for aesthetics and visual principles.
• Execute UI designs seamlessly with product teams and engineers.

Requirements

• 5+ years creating digital interfaces for web, mobile, or in-vehicle systems
• Formal training or degree in Interface Design, Visual Design, or related field
• Strong portfolio showcasing UX expertise, interaction design, creativity, and depth
• Track record of bringing digital products to market
• Proficient in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
• Excellent visual, verbal, written communication; strong problem-solving and organizational skills
• Ability to work cross-functionally and exercise design restraint

Nice to have

• Prototyping experience (software/hardware a plus)
• Creating renders and animations
• Applying technology to design goals
