Senior Machine Learning Engineer (AI): Building machine learning models and scalable data pipelines that digitise electricity-grid infrastructure from LiDAR, imagery, photogrammetry, and GIS data with an accent on deep learning, model serving, and the full ML lifecycle. Focus on generating accurate electric networks from imperfect data, reducing training-to-production time, improving model QA, and detecting data and distribution drift.
Location: Hybrid in Sydney or Melbourne, Australia

What you will do
- Develop deep learning and classical machine learning approaches to generate accurate electric networks from imperfect data.
- Build and optimise training pipelines to reduce operational effort and accelerate model evaluation.
- Scale model serving for problems with different characteristics and shorten the path from initial model to production.
- Improve model QA speed and identify data and distribution drift.
- Work with LiDAR, aerial photography, photogrammetry and GIS data while building scalable pipelines for training and serving.
- Mentor engineers on model training and software engineering practices.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience with machine learning and deep learning.
- Strong software engineering foundation.
- Proficiency with PyTorch, TensorFlow or JAX.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work on ill-defined problems in new domains.
- Ability to work asynchronously and cross-functionally, take ownership and proactively approach challenges.
- Current and unrestricted working rights in Australia are required.
