Location: Full-time onsite at the test facility in Baltimore, Maryland, USA (BWI area)
Salary: $90,000–$197,000 USD annually

What you will do
- Design and implement test plans for fire suppression systems, detection devices, construction materials, energy storage systems, and related products.
- Conduct bench-scale to full-scale fire safety tests, including fire resistance, flame spread, smoke detection, and heat release rate testing.
- Operate, troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain calorimeters, furnaces, smoke chambers, thermal imaging cameras, gas analyzers, and other laboratory instrumentation.
- Manage multiple testing projects from planning through completion, including timelines, budgets, quality standards, and client deliverables.
- Process and analyze test data and communicate findings through technical reports, documentation, presentations, and client discussions.
- Mentor junior laboratory engineers and support the growth of fire testing capabilities and the client base.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
- At least three years of professional experience in a client-focused laboratory environment, preferably in fire protection.
- Experience with lithium-ion battery abuse and fire testing at cell, module, and unit scales is strongly preferred.
- Experience conducting fire tests and using data collection software, hardware, sensors, and specialized instrumentation.
- Interest in writing proposals and developing a client base.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and available for full-time onsite work in Baltimore, MD.
