TL;DR

Senior Java Engineer (with Python experience): Building and maintaining internal platforms and integrations supporting core business operations with an accent on high-availability systems, customer-facing communication tools, and third-party platform integrations. Focus on developing backend services, ensuring system reliability, and optimizing performance in cloud environments.

Location: Burgas, Cairo, Ruse, Sofia. Temporarily Remote.

What you will do

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize backend services and internal platforms.
  • Build integrations with third-party systems and custom services.
  • Maintain high-availability customer-facing communication systems.
  • Ensure data accuracy, system reliability, and service resilience.
  • Collaborate with Product, Platform, and Frontend teams on system design and technical discussions.
  • Support Python services and contribute to Java-based development, performance, and scalability improvements.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for business-critical systems.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in backend development.
  • Strong experience with Java (Spring Boot).
  • Hands-on experience with Python (Python 3; FastAPI is a plus).
  • Experience with REST APIs, SQL databases, and backend system design.
  • Experience with Kafka or event-driven architectures.
  • Familiarity with AWS (S3, RDS, Lambda), CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and monitoring tools (Grafana, DataDog).
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools.
  • Strong communication skills for requirements analysis, discovery, technical documentation, and user stories.

Nice to have

  • Experience in fintech or financial systems.
  • Experience with Zendesk or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with Airflow.
