What you will do

• Set the platform software strategy in collaboration with Product Design and company leadership.
• Build and scale a high-performing engineering team, developing managers and fostering a culture of ownership.
• Lead the delivery of PlayOS (Android-based), balancing new capabilities with system health, performance, and security.
• Oversee cloud services, OTA pipelines, and the Play Pass subscription platform to ensure global reliability.
• Drive international compliance for children's privacy (GDPR, COPPA) across all launch territories.
• Establish in-house platform engineering and DevOps practices, transitioning from external partnerships to hirify.global-led development.

Requirements

• Experience leading teams delivering operating systems and cloud services in production at scale.
• Proven people leadership, including hiring, managing managers, and coaching individuals.
• Strong technical judgment across device software and cloud systems.
• Track record of raising the bar on quality, reliability, security, and privacy compliance.
• Significant flexibility working across global timezones.
• Must be located in Hong Kong.

Nice to have

• Experience with subscription or commerce platforms.
• Familiarity with reliability practices such as SLOs, observability, and incident response.
• Experience with connected devices, device fleets, or hardware-software integration.
• Experience building products specifically for kids or families.
• Knowledge of consumer privacy regulations (GDPR, COPPA).
