LTE EPC Engineer

TL;DR

LTE EPC Engineer (Cisco/Nokia): End-to-end support, maintenance, optimisation, and lifecycle management of LTE EPC in large-scale mining operations with an accent on high-availability mobile broadband for autonomous haulage, fleet management, and IoT sensors. Focus on troubleshooting outages, capacity planning, parameter tuning, and integration with RAN teams.

What you will do

• Manage operations of Cisco and Nokia EPC components including MME, SGW, PGW, HSS, PCRF.
• Perform configurations, upgrades, patches, capacity planning, and performance monitoring of EPC KPIs.
• Troubleshoot service degradations, alarms, node failures, and conduct root cause analysis for LTE issues.
• Support integration of new sites/nodes, implement APNs, QoS profiles, and optimise parameters for mining apps.
• Manage SIM provisioning lifecycle, subscriber configurations in HSS, and coordinate with field operations.
• Maintain documentation, security functions, and provide technical reports to teams and partners.

Requirements

• Minimum 3–7 years EPC engineering experience, preferably in mining/industrial sites.
• Strong hands-on with Cisco EPC (ASR5K, StarOS) and/or Nokia EPC (MME/AMF, SGW/UPF, etc.).
• Understanding of LTE/5G architecture, interfaces (S1-MME, S5/S8, Gx), EPS bearers, Diameter protocol.
• Experience with packet tracing (Wireshark), OSS/NMS, IP routing, QoS, security fundamentals.
• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• Analytical skills, communication, incident management under pressure, documentation.

Nice to have

• Vendor certifications: Nokia/Cisco EPC, 3GPP Core Network.
• Experience with autonomous haulage systems (AHS), private LTE/MPN, ticketing tools like ServiceNow, ITIL.
