TL;DR

Senior Software Engineer (C#): Designing and evolving high-volume backend services for a primary payment gateway platform with an accent on security, scalability, and reliability. Focus on building secure payment transactions, optimizing performance, and mentoring engineers to ensure operational excellence in high-availability environments.

Location: Remote, must be based in the UK

Salary: £50,000 - £65,000

What you will do

  • Design and deliver complex, scalable backend systems for high-performance payment processing.
  • Take ownership of core gateway platform components to ensure maintainability and operational excellence.
  • Identify and resolve architectural gaps, performance bottlenecks, and reliability risks.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through design reviews and constructive feedback.
  • Drive improvements in CI/CD pipelines, observability, and deployment automation.
  • Ensure strict adherence to security and compliance standards including PCI, OWASP, and SOC2.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of commercial experience developing complex software applications.
  • Advanced proficiency in C# (preferred) or PHP with strong OOP design principles.
  • Experience with relational databases such as MySQL, SQL Server, or Oracle.
  • Proven experience with cloud environments (GCP or AWS).
  • Strong knowledge of security best practices (OWASP, PCI, SOC2).
  • Must be based in the UK.

Nice to have

  • Experience with logging systems like Logz.io.
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools like DataDog or NewRelic.
