What you will do

  • Design, develop, and maintain motion planning and control algorithms, including trajectory optimization and real-time re-planning for autonomous heavy-duty vehicles.
  • Implement safety-aware methods such as tube MPC and control barrier functions to ensure planning safety.
  • Work with semantic maps and map-based representations to inform planning and prediction.
  • Collaborate with Perception, Control, and Systems Engineering teams to integrate the planning stack into the full autonomy pipeline.
  • Optimize critical components for real-time performance, focusing on GPU-accelerated workloads.

Requirements

  • PhD or highly qualified MSc in Robotics, Control Systems, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of research or industry experience in motion planning, trajectory optimization, or vehicle control for autonomous systems.
  • Proficiency in Go, C++, and Python.
  • Strong foundation in optimization-based planning (MPC, convex/non-linear optimization) and sampling-based planning (MPPI, CEM).
  • Knowledge of vehicle dynamics modeling, such as bicycle models and tire-force models.

Nice to have

  • Experience with CUDA or GPU-accelerated computing.
  • Familiarity with prediction/forecasting, behavioral planning, or functional safety.
  • Experience with learning-based planning/control, such as imitation learning or reinforcement learning.
