ICLA Project Officer (Legal)

TL;DR

ICLA Project Officer (Legal): Implementing information, counselling and legal assistance activities for displaced populations in South Sudan with an accent on legal aid and security of tenure. Focus on conducting community sensitization, providing legal counselling, and coordinating with government and humanitarian partners.

Location: Onsite in Aweil, South Sudan (requires 90% travel to field sites)

What you will do

• Implement ICLA activities according to strategy, budgets, and operational plans.
• Provide direct legal information, counselling, and assistance to beneficiaries.
• Conduct assessments and regular monitoring in IDP, returnee, and host communities.
• Organize and lead community sensitization campaigns on HLP rights, human rights, and Collaborative Dispute Resolution.
• Represent NRC in professional meetings with government authorities and humanitarian partners.
• Prepare periodic status reports and ensure proper documentation and filing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or Humanities from a recognized university.
• Experience as a Legal Aid or Access to Justice Project Officer in humanitarian or recovery contexts.
• Proven experience working in complex and volatile environments.
• Fluency in English (written and verbal).
• Strong report writing and organizational skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Arabic and other local languages.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
