What you will do

• Lead an empowered, multidisciplinary engineering team to design and build stable, performant software.
• Develop real-time quoting and decisioning components with a focus on latency, throughput, and correctness.
• Partner with quantitative analysts to productionalize models, define key performance metrics, and monitor strategy outcomes.
• Implement and maintain critical risk controls, including exposure checks, hedging limits, and kill switch patterns.
• Drive operational excellence by improving system observability, debugging workflows, and participating in on-call rotations.
• Mentor junior engineers and influence technical strategy at an organizational level.

Requirements

• Must be based in the UK.
• 7+ years of industry experience in software engineering, finance engineering, or related technical fields.
• Proficiency in a modern OOP language (C# or Java).
• Strong understanding of performance, low-level memory management, and data structures.
• Experience building event-driven, real-time systems in cloud environments (AWS).
• Proven ability to translate business requirements into pragmatic technical designs.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of infrastructure as code (Terraform, Helm).
• Experience with streaming technologies like Kafka.
