Performance Architect (iGaming)

TL;DR

Performance Architect (iGaming): Taking end-to-end ownership of performance across the Sportsbook platform with an accent on frontend performance and customer-perceived latency. Focus on ensuring performance, scalability, and responsiveness are built in by design, collaborating with architects, DevOps, and engineering teams.

Location: Hybrid work model, requiring 3 days in the office (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) in Malta.

What you will do

• Define and own the performance architecture for Sportsbook applications, focusing on frontend performance.
• Establish and maintain performance-related non-functional requirements across web, mobile, and platform layers.
• Drive best practices for frontend performance, including rendering strategies, asset loading, and web performance metrics.
• Lead performance analysis, load testing, and capacity planning activities.
• Act as a performance ambassador across the organization, communicating complex topics clearly.

Requirements

• Strong experience with frontend performance engineering in large-scale, high-traffic systems.
• Solid understanding of web architectures, modern frontend frameworks, HTTP, networking, caching, CDNs, cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS), and containerized environments (e.g. Kubernetes).
• Proven experience working in architectural or cross-team technical roles.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Nice to have

• Previous Sportsbook, iGaming, or real-time betting systems experience.
• Experience with high-availability, low-latency platforms operating at scale.
• Hands-on experience with performance tooling, observability, and load-testing frameworks.
