Postgres Deployment Engineer (PostgreSQL)

What you will do

• Package Supabase software into the public supabase/postgres repository using Nix flakes and Debian packaging.
• Build, test, and deploy Docker images and AWS AMIs for cloud and local Supabase environments.
• Improve GitHub Actions, engineering tooling, testing, and release practices.
• Perform timely PostgreSQL major, minor, and extension upgrades.
• Identify and resolve production issues in customer deployments, GitHub issues, and support requests.
• Develop stability practices, deployment tools, and tests while collaborating with product, infrastructure, PostgreSQL, and customer-facing teams.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience with PostgreSQL and its ecosystem, including extensions, performance optimization, and operational best practices.
• Infrastructure experience with Ansible, Nix and Nix flakes, Packer, Docker, QEMU/KVM, AWS, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Linux and Darwin/macOS AArch64 targets.
• Experience building C/C++, Go, JavaScript, and Rust projects using both conventional and Nix-based packaging.
• Ability to work independently, collaborate asynchronously, interact with customers, and improve development tooling.
• Willingness to teach engineering teams to use and contribute to Nix-based workflows and troubleshoot the broader platform and PostgreSQL stack.

Nice to have

• Experience with PostgREST, Supabase Auth, and other Supabase stack components.
• Contributions to significant open-source PostgreSQL projects.
