Focus on building robust evaluation systems, delivering executive-ready insights, and partnering with product and engineering teams to shape the core product trajectory.

Location: Hybrid (must be able to work in-office 3x/week in Los Angeles, Palo Alto, or San Francisco)

Salary: $160,000 - $190,000

What you will do

• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and ML teams to identify opportunities and frame product hypotheses.
• Support the ML team in improving retrieval, ranking, and personalization algorithms via rigorous evaluation.
• Design and lead experimentation strategies, including A/B testing and quasi-experimental methods.
• Develop tooling and dashboards to monitor KPIs and improve experiment iteration speed.
• Communicate complex analytical insights, tradeoffs, and risks to the executive team.
• Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to team-wide model evaluation practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in data science, specifically in recommender systems, ranking, or personalization.
• Fluency in SQL and Python required.
• Deep understanding of statistics, causal inference, and online experimentation design.
• Strong product sense and ability to translate data findings into actionable product recommendations.
• Must be available for hybrid work in Los Angeles, Palo Alto, or San Francisco.

Nice to have

• Experience with modern Recs stacks like two-tower models, learning-to-rank, or feature stores.
• Knowledge of large-scale data tools like Spark and MLOps concepts.
• Experience with two-sided marketplace design and counterfactual evaluation.
