Thera Bytes is an independent game studio working on a first-person tactical co-op shooter in Unreal Engine 5 with a strong focus on realism and simulation. The team is looking for a Technical Artist / 3D Generalist who combines strong artistic skills with technical expertise and game design understanding. This role offers ownership, influence on decision-making, and a future opportunity for equity participation.
🚀 Responsibilities
• Drive decision-making in art and tech art production
• Create and integrate 3D characters and animations in Unreal Engine 5
• Model, texture, rig, and animate game-ready assets when needed
• Develop VFX using Unreal Engine 5 and Niagara
• Configure gameplay abilities combining animation, VFX, and SFX
• Improve workflows and optimize art production pipelines
• Build environments, lighting, fog, and post-processing for atmosphere
• Create and manage materials
• Use Blueprints to support gameplay and production needs
📚 Required Skills
• Professional experience with Unreal Engine or similar engines
• Strong portfolio demonstrating versatility in art and tech art
• Experience with Blender, ZBrush, Substance Painter, Photoshop or similar tools
• Solid understanding of form, lighting, anatomy, and world-building
• Experience with Unreal Engine Blueprints
• Experience creating Niagara effects and working with sequences and animation tools
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Self-driven mindset and willingness to learn
• Good understanding of player expectations and market trends
👍 Nice to Have
• German language skills
• Based in Bavaria, Germany
• Experience shipping a tactical shooter
