Commissioning Editor (Science)

TL;DR

Commissioning Editor (Science): Responsible for attracting high-quality scientific content into key hirify.global journals via Topical Collections with an accent on data-driven topic selection and collaboration with Editorial Board Members. Focus on identifying appropriate Guest Editors, orchestrating training, and engaging with Marketing teams to coordinate and improve the promotion of Collections.

Location: Beijing, Shanghai or Nanjing (China) - hybrid working model

What you will do

• Plan and implement commissioning strategies on key journals.
• Define and implement best practices across the Collections lifecycle.
• Identify appropriate topics for Collections using data analysis tools.
• Build and leverage relationships with internal and external editorial communities.
• Identify and engage with Guest Editors and potential authors.
• Coordinate the promotion of Collections with Marketing teams.

Requirements

• Sound knowledge and keen interest in Science.
• Familiarity with the Research Process and the Scientific community.
• Excellent understanding of the research publishing landscape.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A creative, strategic, and commercial mindset.
• Bachelor's Degree, preferably in a STEM discipline; fresh Ph.D. graduates are also welcome.

Nice to have

• Direct experience of managing a journal or journal portfolio.
• Strong data analysis and reporting skills – ability to directly query data is desirable.
• Experience in Tableau is desirable.
