TL;DR

Fullstack Support Desk Developer (WordPress/Node.js): Resolving support tickets, performing site enhancements, and debugging production issues across WordPress and Next.js applications with an accent on performance optimization and system stability. Focus on building custom themes, managing complex plugins, and maintaining high-quality code in a fast-paced agency environment.

Location: Must be based in Melbourne or work within the AEST time zone (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM).

What you will do

  • Triage, estimate, and resolve support desk tickets for WordPress and Node.js projects.
  • Develop and maintain custom WordPress themes, plugins, and Gutenberg blocks.
  • Support and troubleshoot Next.js applications, focusing on SSR, API routes, and integration patterns.
  • Debug production issues and performance bottlenecks to ensure high application stability.
  • Utilize Git workflows, maintain documentation, and uphold QA and deployment standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers and designers to deliver technical fixes and enhancements.

Requirements

  • Confidence working within AEST business hours (Monday-Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM).
  • Proven experience in WordPress development and Node.js/Next.js.
  • Strong understanding of PHP, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern front-end patterns.
  • Solid experience with Git, debugging legacy codebases, and performance profiling.
  • Ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Independent contractor status: must own equipment and reliable internet.

Nice to have

  • Experience with DevOps tools: Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud services (AWS).
  • Background in agency support desk environments with SLA-driven delivery.
  • Familiarity with WooCommerce customization and high-volume store support.
  • Proficiency in monitoring tools such as Sentry, New Relic, or Datadog.
