TL;DR

Character Rigger (Gamedev): Building and maintaining production-ready character rigs for bipedal and quadrupedal game assets with an accent on anatomy-driven deformation systems and performance optimization. Focus on integrating rigs into Unreal Engine, automating rigging workflows with Python/MEL, and ensuring high-quality animation control for game production pipelines.

Location: Remote or hybrid (Kyiv/Lviv/Dnipro). Excluded: Not hiring from the Russian Federation.

What you will do

  • Create and maintain production-ready rigs for biped, quadruped, stylized, and realistic character models.
  • Develop and manage skin weighting and advanced deformation setups using Driven Keys and PoseWrangler.
  • Implement rigging solutions directly within Unreal Engine pipelines.
  • Write Python or MEL scripts to automate and support rigging workflows.
  • Optimize rigs to meet real-time engine performance requirements and animation needs.
  • Collaborate with animation teams to troubleshoot rig issues and ensure technical quality.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in character rigging for games using Autodesk Maya.
  • Strong understanding of anatomy, movement principles, and deformation systems.
  • Proficiency in Python or MEL scripting for automation.
  • Experience with facial rigging and rig integration into Unreal Engine.
  • Knowledge of exporting and preparing assets for game engines.
  • English language skills required for documentation and collaboration.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Advanced Skeleton, HumanIK, mGear, and MotionBuilder.
  • Familiarity with motion capture workflows and retargeting processes.
  • Ability to validate and maintain complex rigs inside Unreal Engine.
