TL;DR
FPGA Engineer (Electronic Warfare) (VHDL/SystemVerilog, DSP): Designing real-time digital signal-processing datapaths for autonomous electronic warfare and SIGINT systems with an accent on RF interfaces, fixed-point hardware, and hard latency and throughput constraints. Focus on translating algorithms into RTL, closing timing on SoC FPGAs, and validating signal chains from board bring-up through over-the-air testing.
Location: Paris, France; on-site
Company
Building autonomous and scalable defense systems for allied forces, with a focus on mission-critical technologies and demanding technical challenges.
What you will do
- Design and implement RTL signal-processing datapaths in VHDL or SystemVerilog, including digital down-conversion, channelization, filtering, FFT, and detection chains.
- Implement real-time detection, direction-finding, classification, and waveform-generation functions within strict latency and throughput budgets.
- Develop digital interfaces for RF front-ends, including JESD204B/C high-speed converters, multi-channel clocking, synchronization, and calibration.
- Define hardware/software partitioning and the register and streaming interfaces used by embedded software.
- Drive constraints, timing closure, and resource, power, and thermal budgets on production hardware.
- Lead FPGA bring-up, laboratory validation with RF instrumentation, over-the-air testing, and system integration with RF hardware, embedded software, GNC, and ML teams.
Requirements
- Strong RTL design experience in VHDL or SystemVerilog for signal-processing datapaths.
- Solid digital signal-processing fundamentals, including sampling, mixing, decimation, filter design, FFT, fixed-point arithmetic, and quantization trade-offs.
- Hands-on experience with SoC FPGAs and their toolchains.
- MSc in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Signal Processing, or a related field.
- Broad engineering understanding of RF hardware, embedded software, and system-level trade-offs.
- Rigorous, structured, analytical approach with strong communication and documentation skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with JESD204B/C interfaces and multi-channel synchronization.
- Experience with algorithm-to-RTL workflows using MATLAB/Simulink, Python modelling, or HLS.
- Laboratory experience with spectrum analyzers, vector signal generators, and oscilloscopes.
- Previous Electronic Warfare experience is not required.
Culture & Benefits
- Mission-driven work focused on real-world impact and autonomous defense systems.
- Environment emphasizing technical excellence, ambitious goals, rigor, ownership, and execution.
- Collaboration across RF hardware, embedded software, GNC, ML, and systems engineering teams.
