Intern (Edge AI Model Zoo Optimization Research & Engineering): Conduct research and engineering on Edge AI model optimization methods, integrating and benchmarking discriminative and generative models for embedded systems. Focus on exploring model compression techniques, automating benchmarking, and evaluating performance on embedded hardware.

Location: Munich, Germany with hybrid work setup

What you will do

• Integrate discriminative and generative AI models into the internal Model Zoo.
• Automate benchmarking of models across accuracy, latency, memory footprint, and hardware utilization.
• Research and evaluate model optimization techniques on embedded systems.
• Document findings and contribute to internal knowledge bases and tooling.
• Collaborate with team members to identify promising future development directions.

Requirements

• Location: Must be based in Munich, Germany or able to work hybrid on-site
• Currently pursuing a master’s degree in computer science, AI, ML, or related field.
• Strong understanding of AI/ML fundamentals, especially CNNs and generative models.
• Experience with Python, PyTorch and/or TensorFlow, Linux, and Git.
• Excellent English communication skills for multinational collaboration.
• Reliable and security-conscious work approach due to security-related tasks.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with model compression techniques like quantization, pruning, knowledge distillation.
• Experience with RESTful API development and frameworks such as FastAPI.
• Experience with edge AI deployment tools like TFLite, ONNX, Executorch.
