Senior Backend Engineer

TL;DR

Senior Backend Engineer (Backend Development): Designing, developing, and scaling backend systems powering digital retail advertising platforms with an accent on high-traffic, real-time, geo-located online applications and AWS infrastructure. Focus on building fault-tolerant distributed systems, REST API design, and ensuring scalability, maintainability, and security.

Location: Must be based in Germany or able to relocate to Germany

What you will do

• Own backend services end-to-end with autonomy and proactively solve technical challenges.
• Develop high-traffic, real-time, geo-located online applications and ecosystems.
• Design and implement REST APIs on AWS infrastructure using AWS services.
• Monitor backend services in production to ensure performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Collaborate closely with product managers and frontend engineers to deliver high-quality features.
• Work within Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or related field.
• At least 5 years of backend development experience, including Spring Boot and Java 21+.
• Strong experience with Node.js and AWS services.
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems, microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, and Elasticsearch.
• Fluent in spoken and written English (C1 level), German not required.
• Must be located in Germany or willing to relocate (visa sponsorship available).

Nice to have

• Experience with agentic tools such as LLM agents, AI copilots, and Claude Code.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and cloud platforms.
