Application Security Engineer

TL;DR

Application Security Engineer (Cybersecurity): Designing and implementing security architecture from cloud infrastructure to applications with an accent on secure by design principles and threat modeling automation. Focus on securing CI/CD pipelines, cloud migration security, and collaboration with product and engineering teams to ensure robust application security.

Location: Global remote with relocation support to Cyprus, Malta, Portugal, Poland, and Serbia

Salary: $5,000–7,500 per month net

What you will do

• Design security architecture from cloud infrastructure to applications implementing secure by design principles.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and developers to implement security controls and platforms.
• Validate security implementations in infrastructure, application deployment manifests, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Define policies and controls to protect products and environments.
• Build and automate declarative threat models.
• Oversee security aspects of product migration from data centers to public cloud (e.g., AWS).

Requirements

• Senior level experience with integrating security tooling into development pipelines.
• Proficiency in securing microservices and applications using JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab, Jenkins) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Helm, CloudFormation).
• Hands-on Python and Shell scripting skills.
• Strong understanding of supply chain security, software integrity, and secure delivery.
• Experience with Docker, mesh technologies (Istio), and security reviews including threat modeling.
• Knowledge of privacy laws such as GDPR and industry standards like PCI, ISO 27001, NIST.

Nice to have

• Experience architecting secure services on Kubernetes and AWS or on-prem data centers.
• Security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSK, CCSP, CEH.
