What you will do

• Lead and mentor a local team of data engineers fostering technical excellence and agile delivery.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable data platforms and pipelines handling large-scale wealth data.
• Implement AI readiness strategies focusing on data quality, low-latency access, and MLOps integration.
• Set and enforce high standards for code quality, documentation, testing, and modern engineering practices.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists, Product Managers, and Application teams to deliver scalable technical solutions.
• Represent the team locally and contribute to the Birmingham tech community and internal forums.

Requirements

• Location: Must be based in Birmingham, United Kingdom
• 10+ years in Data Engineering with 2+ years in leadership or management roles.
• Expertise in Snowflake, Apache Iceberg, Java, Python, SQL, Spark, Kafka, and orchestration tools like Apache Airflow.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing, lakehouse architecture, and cloud-native services.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
• Proven mentorship and communication skills to bridge technical and business stakeholders.
