TL;DR

Senior Manager, Payments Business Development (Future Payments): Shaping the bank’s strategy for emerging and next-generation payment capabilities with an accent on developing innovative, rail-agnostic and wallet-based solutions. Focus on identifying new market opportunities, driving strategic market development, and creating forward-looking propositions that anticipate future customer needs.

Location: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of office locations. You must be based in Birmingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh or London.

Salary: £78,098 – £91,880

What you will do

  • Set the vision, scan market and customer trends, and build business cases for new opportunities.
  • Design differentiated wallet-enabled and cross-rail solutions, evolving existing products and incubating new propositions.
  • Own a multi-year roadmap, guiding teams from idea to execution and optimizing performance post-launch.
  • Build investment cases, track adoption and ROI, and drive interventions to meet strategic and commercial goals.

Requirements

  • Experience in the payments industry, with a track record of developing and launching innovative initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of wallets, alternative payment rails, and the convergence of traditional and emerging payment methods.
  • Strong collaboration with stakeholders to drive outcomes, especially in ambiguous situations.
  • Strong commercial acuity and a proven track record to build robust business cases and secure investment.
  • Experience identifying or developing market opportunities, including propositions for emerging markets.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, including engagement with senior leadership.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Background in establishing or contributing to business units, entities, schemes, or joint ventures.
