TL;DR

EE Low Voltage Systems Engineer (Electrical Systems): Developing, integrating, validating, and signing off low voltage systems across automotive projects with an accent on hardware and software management, ECU networking, and diagnostic troubleshooting. Focus on delivering functional safety and Golden Rules processes for low voltage energy management in future vehicles.

Location: Hybrid in Crewe, Cheshire. Must have immediate, ongoing, and valid eligibility to work full-time in the UK.

This role is for an automotive OEM based in Crewe, Cheshire.

What you will do

  • Develop, integrate, validate, and sign off Low Voltage Systems for automotive projects.
  • Manage hardware and software, approve circuit diagrams, and support ECU functions, networking, and communications.
  • Utilize diagnostic troubleshooting skills to resolve vehicle issues.
  • Ensure compliance with Functional Safety and Golden Rules activities.
  • Manage suppliers and coordinate with group engineers to deliver fully functional Low Voltage Systems.
  • Validate base software and calibration for Low Voltage Energy Management.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of vehicle Low Voltage Systems and components, including energy management software, alternators, DC/DC converters, and 12V battery technology.
  • Knowledge of medium (48V) and high voltage systems and their interaction with low voltage systems.
  • Experience with CAN, Flexray, and LIN bus systems.
  • Proficiency with Vector Tools (CANape, CANoe, INCA) and Vehicle Diagnostic tools (ODIS, IDEX).
  • Understanding of Functional Safety and Golden Rules processes, including supporting tools like SCD and FAHST.
  • An Engineering Degree is required.
  • Must have immediate, ongoing, and valid eligibility to work full-time in the UK.

Nice to have

  • High Voltage training/qualification.
  • German language skills.
