TL;DR

Senior Software Engineer (Fullstack): Designing, developing, testing, and deploying high‑quality software solutions with an accent on building highly observable, scalable, and distributed systems. Focus on building complex frontend and backend applications and debugging production incidents.

Location: Hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites in Manchester

Salary: £72,702 - £109,053 per annum

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and deploy high‑quality software solutions.
• Lead the development and implementation of complex frontend and backend applications.
• Maintain high standards of code quality, architecture, and documentation.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
• Take ownership of debugging, root‑cause analysis, and resolution of production incidents.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers.

Requirements

• Extensive experience as a Senior Software Engineer or in a similar role.
• Deep understanding of modern software engineering principles.
• Advanced proficiency in React, including State management using Context API and Redux, Microfrontend architectures, Component design patterns and performance optimisation, Testing with Jest and React Testing Library.
• Strong backend development experience with Node.js/Express, including Microservices architecture, Event‑driven systems, Pub/Sub or Kafka, API design and integration patterns.
• Solid system design knowledge, including Caching strategies (e.g., Redis), Scalability, reliability, and performance considerations.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud‑native architecture and containerisation (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
• Strong understanding of Agile principles and practices (Scrum, Jira).
• Excellent problem‑solving and analytical thinking skills.
