3D Animation Lead (Maya)

What you will do

• Lead and guide a team of animators on a show, including assigning work with the animation supervisor.
• Act as the main contact between production and supervisors, resolving creative and technical challenges and adapting to schedule changes.
• Attend dailies, present team work, provide feedback, and maintain delivery quality and deadlines.
• Work with technology teams and technical animators to support department tools, workflows, show documentation, and wikis.
• Coach junior artists, support their progression, and help manage team communication and conflict.
• Deputise for the animation supervisor and contribute to production bids when required.

Requirements

• Previous experience mentoring or leading an animation team.
• Thorough knowledge of Maya and working knowledge of modelling, rigging, and MEL/Python scripting.
• Understanding of animation pipelines, rig setups, data transfer between tools, physical motion, weight, balance, texture, and form.
• Knowledge of human and animal anatomy and life drawing skills.
• Strong organisation, communication, interpersonal, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, accept direction, adapt to change, and learn new technical skills.
