What you will do

• Build and maintain production-quality data pipelines for ingress and egress between operational systems and BigQuery.
• Implement rigorous data quality, freshness checks, and monitoring to ensure accuracy.
• Contribute to dbt systems, ensuring staging layers are efficient, cost-effective, and highly available.
• Maintain and improve ingestion frameworks leveraging purpose-built data load tool (dlt) connectors.
• Troubleshoot and resolve pipeline issues to guarantee data availability for downstream analytics.
• Create comprehensive documentation for data engineering processes, workflows, and system architectures.

Requirements

• Must be based in Canadian time zones.
• Strong software development experience in Python, Java, Scala, or Go.
• High proficiency in SQL for data manipulation and analysis.
• Experience building and maintaining data pipelines using workflow orchestrators like Prefect, Dagster, or Airflow.
• Practical knowledge of dbt or equivalent data transformation frameworks.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with BigQuery and Google Cloud Platform services.
• Knowledge of event-driven architectures and data observability practices.
• Familiarity with Apache Iceberg or similar analytic table formats.
• Previous experience with Grafana or a strong desire to learn the platform.
