What you will do
- Build and maintain production-quality data pipelines for ingress and egress between operational systems and BigQuery.
- Implement rigorous data quality, freshness checks, and monitoring to ensure accuracy.
- Contribute to dbt systems, ensuring staging layers are efficient, cost-effective, and highly available.
- Maintain and improve ingestion frameworks leveraging purpose-built data load tool (dlt) connectors.
- Troubleshoot and resolve pipeline issues to guarantee data availability for downstream analytics.
- Create comprehensive documentation for data engineering processes, workflows, and system architectures.
Requirements
- Must be based in Canadian time zones.
- Strong software development experience in Python, Java, Scala, or Go.
- High proficiency in SQL for data manipulation and analysis.
- Experience building and maintaining data pipelines using workflow orchestrators like Prefect, Dagster, or Airflow.
- Practical knowledge of dbt or equivalent data transformation frameworks.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Experience with BigQuery and Google Cloud Platform services.
- Knowledge of event-driven architectures and data observability practices.
- Familiarity with Apache Iceberg or similar analytic table formats.
- Previous experience with Grafana or a strong desire to learn the platform.
