Junior Data Engineer (Web3/DeFi)

TL;DR

Junior Data Engineer (Web3/DeFi): Designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and infrastructure for economic models and production applications with an accent on blockchain economics, financial markets, and incentive schemes. Focus on optimizing network design, influencing decision-making, and operationalizing economic models through data-driven decisions in Web3.

Location: Global remote, with a request to overlap some working hours with Eastern Standard Time (EST).

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure to support data-driven decisions.
• Build and maintain production economics applications for the Chainlink network.
• Design novel mechanisms and incentive schemes for blockchain economics.
• Evaluate investment opportunities through data pipelines, models, and simulations.
• Optimize network incentives and systems by collaborating with Economics, Product, Engineering, Research, and Data Science teams.

Requirements

• Strong SQL and Python skills are mandatory.
• Deep understanding of financial and crypto markets and incentives.
• Strong foundation in Computer Science principles (data structures, algorithms) and experience with production-grade software engineering concepts (git, testing, containerization, CI/CD, infrastructure as code).
• Experience with data infrastructure design and implementation in cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure).
• Substantial data analysis and/or data science experience.
• Meticulous attention to detail.

Nice to have

• Strong organizational and coordination skills to productionize and operationalize processes and applications.
• Advanced Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, and/or Finance background (Masters-level academics and/or multiple years of industry experience).
• Proven interest in DeFi and in remaining current with new products and trends.
• Experience with LLM-based development tools, onchain data, orchestration tools such as Airflow and DBT, data modeling, and data warehousing concepts.
• Published research with an economics or crypto focus (e.g., papers on MEV or PBS, staking and slashing dynamics, node compensation, tokenomics, etc.).
