TL;DR
Technical Artist (Game Development): Developing and maintaining art pipelines, tools, shaders, and workflows for AAA game titles with an accent on technical problem-solving, asset performance, and real-time engine optimization. Focus on creating cinematic experiences, ensuring assets meet performance budgets, and collaborating with engineering.
Location: Onsite in Guildford, UK. Sponsorship is not available for this fixed-term contract until November 2026.

What you will do
- Develop and maintain efficient art pipelines, tools, and workflows.
- Support artists with technical problem-solving and guidance.
- Profile, optimise, and improve asset performance and memory usage.
- Collaborate with engineering on technical requirements and solutions.
- Create shaders, materials, and procedural systems in Unreal Engine.
- Ensure assets meet strict performance budgets and technical constraints.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of scalability and performance in real-time engines (preferably Unreal) for multi-platform projects.
- Proficiency with Blueprints and Material Editor.
- Ability to rapidly prototype and iterate for fast-paced development.
- Comfortable with frequent iteration, including reworking or discarding assets.
- Demonstrated ability to meet high visual and technical standards through past work.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to partner across disciplines.
Nice to have
- Proficiency in Niagara.
- Proficiency with landscape materials and Runtime Virtual Texture setup (RVT).
- Ability to optimize real-time lighting under Nanite and Virtual Shadow Maps (VSM) setting.
- Ability to work with .CSV profiler and/or Unreal Insight.
