Database Administrator (DBA)

TL;DR

Database Administrator (DBA): Supporting production database platforms, ensuring stability, availability, performance, and incident resolution across relational and NoSQL databases in production with an accent on troubleshooting performance, availability, and data issues. Focus on day to day DBA support activities including performance monitoring and tuning, backup, restore, and recovery.

What you will do

• Administer, support, and troubleshoot SQL Server, Oracle, and/or Azure Cosmos DB in live production environments.
• Perform day to day DBA support activities, including performance monitoring and tuning, backup, restore, and recovery, capacity and health checks, and security, access control, and compliance.
• Respond to incidents, service requests, and alerts within defined SLAs.
• Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive actions.
• Provide operational support for Azure Cosmos DB environments under established architectures.
• Work closely with application, platform, and cloud teams to ensure reliable database operations.

Requirements

• Strong hands on experience with SQL Server and/or Oracle.
• Experience supporting production databases in enterprise environments.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for performance, availability, and data issues.
• Experience with monitoring, alerting, and operational dashboards.
• Comfortable working within incident, change, and problem management frameworks.
• Willingness to participate in on call or shift based support, as required.

Nice to have

• Hands on experience supporting Azure Cosmos DB in production, including containers and items, Request Units (RU/s), partition keys (operational awareness).
• Experience with JSON based data models.
• Exposure to Azure services such as Azure SQL, Azure Storage, and Azure Monitor.
• Basic scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, or similar).
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, or infrastructure automation concepts.
