Senior Automation Engineer (Industrial Automation)

TL;DR

Senior Automation Engineer (Industrial Automation): Developing and implementing robust automation solutions for food processing systems with an accent on PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming, control panel design, and system commissioning. Focus on ensuring compliance with UL508A and other regulatory requirements, managing on-site automation activities, and conducting customer training.

Location: Based preferably in Winsted, MN, but open to all offices in the United States. Requires travel to client sites in the U.S. and Canada (35% of time). International relocation to the United States, work visas, or relocation sponsorship are not offered for this position.

Salary: $86,700.00 – $136,000.00 USD annually (plus 10% performance incentive).

What you will do

• Develop and track project programs and engineering resource requirements (design, installation, commissioning).
• Interface with account managers and customers to assess requirements and create cost-effective quotations.
• Analyze, design, develop, and implement automation solutions including database, reports, HMI, and PLC programs.
• Configure control systems (PLC, HMI/SCADA), control panels, motor control centers, Ethernet, ASI networks, and pneumatic circuits.
• Ensure all automation designs comply with UL508A, Code of Practice, and other regulatory requirements.
• Manage on-site automation activities for installation, commissioning, and performance testing phases.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering/Automation Engineering or related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience with processing area automation systems required.
• High proficiency with hirify.global PlantMaster PLC, HMI, and TPMDB programming required.
• Previous experience in the food or dairy industry required.
• Good level of design skill and troubleshooting capability of electrical (up to 600 VAC) and pneumatic systems.
• Strong, positive oral and written communication skills.

Nice to have

• Proficiency with FactoryTalk View SE HMI development.
• Ignition Platform knowledge.
• Working knowledge of ISA-S88 and S95.
• Experience with Servers, Visual Basic, SQL databases, Virtual Machines & VMware.
