What you will do

• Lead smaller delivery projects, mentor junior engineers, and help define the technical direction for SRE and DevOps practices.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and efficient cloud-based systems and applications.
• Provide expert-level guidance on SRE and DevOps tools, technologies, and best practices.
• Work directly with government and defence clients to translate operational needs into reliable technical solutions.
• Automate and standardise infrastructure deployments using tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Configure and maintain monitoring and alerting platforms like Prometheus, Grafana, or Nagios.
• Manage log aggregation and analysis tools such as ELK Stack or Splunk.
• Apply robust security best practices and implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines.

Requirements

• Strong design, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with cloud platforms, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong understanding of system design, scalability, and reliability.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.
• Must have valid right to work in the UK.
• Must be a resident in the UK and have been living continuously in the UK for the last 10 years.
• Must be able to hold or gain a UK government security clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or CircleCI.
• Familiarity with configuration management tools including Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
• Strong knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Experience using monitoring and logging platforms like Prometheus, ELK Stack, or Datadog.
