What you will do

• Lead and grow UI engineering teams responsible for Claude's consumer products across web, mobile, desktop, and browser extensions.
• Define the technical vision and architecture for scalable frontend systems.
• Stay deeply technical, participating in design reviews and architectural decisions.
• Partner closely with Product and Design to shape product direction.
• Drive engineering excellence through best practices in performance, accessibility, and cross-platform consistency.
• Collaborate across functions, including Research, Trust & Safety, and Go-to-Market, to ensure products meet user and business needs.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience building consumer-facing web and mobile applications at scale, with several years in engineering leadership roles.
• Track record of delivering high-quality, responsive, and accessible interfaces for millions of users.
• Ability to dive into code, debug complex issues, and make informed architectural tradeoffs despite leadership responsibilities.
• Strong product and design opinions, advocating effectively for the user.
• Excel at cross-functional partnership and building trust quickly with stakeholders.
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, balancing speed with quality.
• Excitement for building interfaces for AI-powered products, where interaction paradigms are still being invented.
• Work authorization: Visa sponsorship is available for this role.
• Location: Must be able to work in San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY, with a hybrid office presence (at least 25% in office).

Nice to have

• Experience building products across multiple platforms (web, iOS, Android, desktop, browser extensions).
