Location: Blended Working model requires presence at a company clubhouse or client site, which are located across the UK and Europe.

What you will do

• Design and build scalable, resilient backend systems and APIs (REST/GraphQL, event-driven, distributed services).
• Integrate AI into backend systems, building AI-powered workflows and solutions from MVP to production.
• Shape architectural direction, review designs, and ensure high-quality engineering practices.
• Take ownership of complex technical problems and make pragmatic decisions.
• Contribute to frontend codebases as needed, with a primary strength in backend.
• Advise clients on realistic AI opportunities and navigate practical value versus hype.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on backend engineering experience with Java, Node.js, TypeScript, Python, or Go.
• Proven ability to design and build scalable, resilient backend systems.
• Hands-on experience with AWS (Lambda, ECS, DynamoDB, SQS/SNS, API Gateway, Step Functions) and strong understanding of cloud-native patterns.
• Solid experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Practical experience integrating AI into backend systems, including LLM- or RAG-based solutions.
• Experience working in a consulting or client-facing environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-scale distributed systems or event streaming (Kafka, Kinesis).
• Exposure to serverless architectures, container orchestration, or hybrid cloud environments.
• Familiarity with security best practices, including IAM, secrets management, and secure API design.
