Network Security Engineer

TL;DR

Network Security Engineer: Solving complex technical problems and interacting with customers to resolve technical issues, threats or attacks on their infrastructure at OSI Layers 3, 4, and 7 with an accent on DDoS mitigation, network firewall, and WAF. Focus on troubleshooting various internet protocols and web server environments, and collaborating with engineering teams to improve products.

What you will do

• Support large and technically sophisticated customers in resolving technical problems, threats, or attacks on their infrastructure at OSI Layers 3, 4, and 7.
• Compare traffic signatures and attributes to determine good vs. malicious traffic.
• Perform DDoS mitigation for OSI layers 3, 4, and 7 using hirify.global tools like Magic Transit, Network Firewall, WAF, IP reputation lists, packet inspection, blocklisting, allowlisting, and rate limiting.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Operations teams to mitigate attacks and improve products and tools.
• Communicate with customers via chat, email, and phone.

Requirements

• Fluent English speaker required.
• Minimum 3 years working within a Technical Support team solving various technical issues.
• Advanced understanding of internet protocols like TCP and UDP, and computer networking fundamentals.
• Experience troubleshooting network connectivity issues, BGP routing, GRE tunnels, DNS, SSL/TLS, and HTTP.
• Experience with command-line tools (curl, dig, traceroute, openssl, git) and packet capture analysis.
• Experience writing scripts in Bash, Python, JavaScript or other scripting languages.
• Experience in a web development and/or hosting environment such as installing and configuring web servers like Apache, Nginx, Caddy, and IIS.
• Flexibility to work varying work schedules including; Tuesday through Saturday, Sunday through Thursday, holidays, weekends, more than 5 days in a row, or additional hours on occasion.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with hirify.global platform.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MS SQL, and other database servers.
• Ability to troubleshoot in other languages beyond English and Spanish.
