Software Engineering Manager (Work Automation)

Software Engineering Manager (Work Automation): Leading a team of fullstack engineers in building scalable, cloud-native capabilities for customer workflows with an accent on people leadership, technical leadership, and delivery ownership. Focus on reviewing designs, guiding architectural choices, and continuously improving team delivery.

Location: Flexible: we are open to candidates being eventually office based in Budapest, remote workers long term or a mix of both, but Hungary based.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of engineers.
• Provide technical direction and guidance across frontend, backend, and cloud-native systems.
• Review and influence architectural and design decisions to ensure scalable and maintainable solutions.
• Own delivery outcomes, partnering with Product Management to translate business priorities into technical plans.
• Champion engineering best practices, quality standards, and modern development approaches.
• Collaborate effectively with globally distributed teams and act as a key point of contact for stakeholders.

Requirements

• Strong prior experience as a Software Engineer with hands-on development in Angular, Java, and/or Python.
• Experience with cloud-native, microservices-based architectures, ideally on AWS.
• Proven experience leading or mentoring engineers in a senior or technical leadership capacity.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, modern DevOps practices, and production systems.
• Strong understanding of software design principles, system architecture, and distributed systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.

Nice to have

• Previous experience as an Engineering Manager, Tech Lead, or Team Lead.
• Experience owning delivery for complex, cross-team initiatives.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures and asynchronous systems.
• Strong coaching skills and a passion for growing engineers and leaders.
