IT & Security Lead

Location: On-site in San Francisco, CA, USA with occasional travel to other company sites.

Salary: $147,000–$160,000 / year

What you will do

• Provide hands-on IT support and manage daily IT operations for in-office and remote employees.
• Administer and rationalize the tech stack, including Google Workspace, MDM, SaaS platforms, and integrations.
• Serve as the internal owner for network infrastructure across all sites, partnering with external vendors.
• Partner with security vendors and support security hygiene and compliance (HIPAA, SOC 2).
• Manage relationships with IT and security vendors and communicate proactively with stakeholders.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in IT operations, systems administration, and vendor management.
• Practical experience administering SSO/SAML in Google Workspace and planning IAM architecture.
• Hands-on MDM experience with macOS (Jamf preferred), iOS, and Windows devices.
• Experience with SaaS administration and strong understanding of network fundamentals.
• Experience managing external vendors and contractors.
• Ability to work on-site in San Francisco with occasional travel to other company sites.

Nice to have

• Experience building or scaling an IT function from the ground up.
• Experience in biotech, life sciences, or environments with HIPAA/PHI requirements.
• Familiarity with UniFi, EDR platforms, and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, NIST).
• Scripting familiarity (Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation.
