Salary: CAD 144,812 – 194,812 annually

What you will do

• Lead and mentor a team of software and QA engineers to enhance the browsing experience for readers.
• Actively participate in the technical delivery of initiatives from planning through to post-release monitoring.
• Establish trust and cultivate a collaborative atmosphere, fostering professional growth and development.
• Continuously enhance and evolve team processes to achieve optimal outcomes, leveraging data-driven insights.
• Work closely with cross-functional colleagues in Product, Design, Marketing, and Architecture to guide initiatives.
• Balance business needs with technical excellence and coordinate effectively across teams for seamless collaboration.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in a leadership role within a software engineering team.
• 6+ years of experience as a software engineer, actively contributing to codebases.
• Experience in managing individuals, providing timely and actionable feedback, and conducting performance reviews.
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Passion for fostering a culture of learning and technical excellence through knowledge sharing, mentorship, and code reviews.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and familiar with Agile methodologies (Kanban, Scrum).
• Excellent understanding of web and accessibility standards, including interactivity, responsiveness, and performance.
• Knowledge of software implementation best practices, object-oriented programming, architectural patterns, and system design principles.
• Familiarity with testing strategies and techniques (unit, integration, end-to-end tests).

Nice to have

• Familiarity with front-end development frameworks (React, Next JS) and CSS libraries (Tailwind, Styled Components).
• Familiarity with the .NET technology stack, relational and non-relational databases (Entity Framework, RavenDB, MSSQL).
• Experience with test automation using Selenium or Playwright.
• Expertise with design systems (React Aria, Storybook).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, leveraging GitHub Workflows and Argo CD.
• Familiarity with communication protocols (HTTP, RPC, WebSockets).
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with message brokers and streaming platforms (RabbitMQ, Kafka).
