TL;DR

Head of Risk (Fintech): Responsible for strategically integrating risk management into core business operations, developing and executing a robust risk framework in compliance with BaFin and FCA standards. Focus on leveraging data-driven insights and automated monitoring to strengthen internal control systems, safeguard assets, and scale risk infrastructure within the investment landscape.

Location: Remote across Europe, or hybrid from Berlin, London, or Tallinn.

What you will do

  • Design and execute a comprehensive framework unifying financial and non-financial risks.
  • Partner with Management to shape organizational trajectory through high-level risk forecasts and strategic insights.
  • Oversee capital and liquidity adequacy, ensuring alignment with BaFin and FCA standards.
  • Implement data-driven assessment techniques and predictive models for risk quantification.
  • Act as a senior advisor to embed a risk-aware mindset across the organization.
  • Serve as the point of contact for regulators, investors, and auditors, ensuring transparent reporting.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in risk management within fintech or financial services.
  • Proven ability to scale risk management practices in high-growth, fast-paced environments.
  • Comprehensive understanding of BaFin and FCA regulatory frameworks, including ICAAP, ILAAP, and ICARA.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to translate complex risk and regulatory topics into actionable plans.
  • Leadership experience in managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Experience influencing and leading cross-functional stakeholders toward strategic impact.
