TL;DR

Senior Software Engineer (AI): Designing and implementing an Agentic AI Platform for autonomous agents to execute complex security workflows with an accent on distributed systems, state machines, and tooling for generative models. Focus on architecting backend services, orchestrating multi-agent workflows, and building reliable enterprise-grade AI systems.

Location: Hybrid remote within the US. While working from home the majority of the time, there may be an expectation to gather for in-person meetings on occasion. Preference for California (Bay Area). Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. No visa sponsorship provided.

Salary: $159,000 - $211,666.67 USD

What you will do

• Architect and implement backend services that power multi-agent AI workflows.
• Design scalable workflow engines and "human-in-the-loop" systems to enable long-running investigations and remediation tasks.
• Create the integration layer between Python-based AI frameworks and hirify.global’s robust JVM-based microservices architecture.
• Implement verification layers, citations, and security guardrails to ensure agents operate deterministically and safely.
• Build advanced Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and "Tool Use" capabilities.
• Collaborate with researchers and product leads to define the roadmap for AI orchestration and champion best practices for MLOps and system observability.

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a strong background in building backend systems, APIs, and platforms.
• Hands-on experience building AI agents and autonomous workflows using frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI, or Pydantic AI.
• Strong programming skills in Python with experience in, or a willingness to work with, JVM-based languages (Java, Kotlin, or Scala).
• Experience designing event-driven architectures, managing concurrency, and building fault-tolerant distributed services (e.g., using Kafka, gRPC, REST).
• Proficiency with Relational Databases (PostgreSQL) and experience with Vector Databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus) or search engines (Elasticsearch).

Nice to have

• Experience designing frameworks to evaluate agent performance and implementing CI/CD for AI workflows.
• Experience deploying and scaling services in AWS using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with Knowledge Graphs or advanced search algorithms.
• Understanding of cybersecurity concepts.
